This unit offers a range of options for mounting to a rifle. The sight by itself can be fastened directly to the side of a suitably matching rifle receiver. Fitted into the extension bar, the unit now suits DIRECT mounting to a flat-sided receiver such as a Martini, for example. (NB. Extra holes will need to be drilled in the bar to achieve this.) Adding the 5/8" dovetail block onto the front end of the extension bar permits the whole unit to be clamped onto the top of a receiver ring pre-fitted with a 5/8" dovetail block, such as a single-shot Stevens or Winchester falling block perhaps. This arrangement allows the peep sight itself to be positioned far enough rearwards to provide a proper sight picture for the shooter. The design of this sight is ideally suited to rifles such as the Winchester M1885 single shot falling block as the only other option is a tang sight which always denies the shooter a comfortable, firm & positive grip. The sight itself features very positive "click" adjustments for both elevation & windage.
