Offered for sale is this very rare Winchester ‘Cherokee Carbine’ Commemorative Model 9422 XTR rifle in new condition, still in the original box. Winchester Commemoratives were first introduced in 1964 & each Commemorative was issued as a reproduction of a historically famous gun model or to honor a historically significant person, group, event or institution relating to U.S. or Canadian history. Commemoratives are generally of very excellent quality & are often embellished with fancy stocks & metal finishes such as silver, nickel or gold plating. Manufactured to be instant collectibles, they are pleasing to the eye. The Cherokee ‘Trail of Tears’ commemoratives were introduced in 1978 & just 3,950 were actually made in .22LR! This example is in mint, unused condition as can be seen in the photos & unusually, comes complete with the original box!
