Neil and I discussed this one maybe 8 years ago. It has a very interesting story. This rifle was originally in .303 calibre but the bore was completely shot out. His friend bought it and sent the barrel to a gunsmith in South Australia, who bored it out and rifled it for .375. Because it was a Speed, Neil pressured his friend for it, then bought two pieces of wood and took it all to a gunsmith friend in Melbourne and he chambered it, reassembled and head spaced it. (I am a little unclear on exactly which parts came from the friend's rifle and which parts Neil supplied). Neil said it still shoots true to the original sights. He said he modified the lips of the magazine, because they were for .303 and did not like the different round. It was originally a ten round magazine, but now fits four or five at a squeeze. So, this rifle is a rebuild...not original...a "bubba" as we say here in the States...but it's a "bubba" by Neil Speed! It was also the very first "Lee-Speed Patents' rifle that Neil ever bought.
