The Type 38 Arisaka was introduced in the early 1900’s as a replacement for the Type 30 rifle. The Type 38 had a reputation for accuracy; its long barrel allowed for a full cartridge burn giving great muzzle velocity with minimal muzzle flash. Type 38’s saw use in the World Wars, Vietnam, China and Korea. An intact Type 38s’ chrysanthemum means it’s a captured rifle as Japanese soldiers would deface the “mum” before surrendering.
